Guernsey is one of the lovely Channel Islands just 80 miles south of England. There are easy links by air and sea. The festival arranges special accommodation deals and the hotel can also arrange package travel deals from the U.K.The Festival welcomes entries of up to 30 minutes. The closing date is 31st May and the festival itself is normally the third weekend in September, but later in 2005 (see below). Result of Guernsey Lily Festival 2005 How the Guernsey Lily Festival started Festival 2005 7-9 th October The 2005 Guernsey Lily International Amateur Film & Video Festival will take place at the La Villette Hotel (www.lavillettehotel.co.uk), in the parish of St Martins from the 7th - 9th October. Ring the hotel (Tel +44 (0) 1481 235292 ) to check whether they still have rooms for that weekend, but mention the event as festival visitors get priority. The final judging panel includes the Rouillard brothers, representatives from Channel Television and a guest from the mainland, this year Ken Wilson of Phase 4 Films.

by Brian Hazelden Two and a half hours due South at a speed of nearly 40 knots on a Condor Ferries Sea Cat brought us to the island of Guernsey... It's a bit like England 30 years ago, only sunnier, petrol is 45p a litre and people seem to have time for each other.
