Please read our notes on copyright and the IAC copyright leaflet before using any music on your soundtracks. Library Music | "Copyright Free" Music | Using Music Library Music is music recorded and published specially for use in Radio/Television/Film and is the published music from which the IAC Film Music Advisory Service makes suggestions to IAC members. These recordings (usually on compact disc) can be purchased from the publishers through the IAC office. The IAC licences (MCPS, BPI, PPL) must be obtained. Copyright/Royalty Free Music is music recorded, published and sold specially for use in non-commercial film, video, slide-tape and sometimes broadcast productions. The purchase price of recordings includes a limited licence to use the material. Always check the licence carefully. (Though the term "copyright free" is in popular use strictly speaking the composer usually retains copyright but includes in the sale price a licence granting limited use.) Commercial Music is that recorded and published for retail sale. Its use requires all the licences (MCPS, BPI, PPL) and clearances mentioned on the copyright page and permission from the Musicians Union.
