A FIRST FOR ALTRINCHAM
The Nellies Corner

David JacksonA weekend for Nellies was recently staged at Altrincham Video Society and attracted seventeen dedicated and enthusiastic students eager to push their computers to the limits with video editing.

Originally arranged for the non-linear editing aficionados at Altrincham, the weekend course, under the direction of David Jackson from Surrey Border Film & Video Makers, attracted other devotees from Stoke, Warrington, Stockport and West Cheshire.

With non-linear editing on computers attracting more and more recruits to its fold, Brian Roberts, from Altrincham, sought the assistance of David Jackson, who had mesmerised students at Wansfell College on previous courses with his knowledge of hardware and software. David agreed to travel north of Watford to spread the gospel on Adobe Premiere and related video editing programmes to a northern group hungry for knowledge on this fascinating subject.

After two days of intensive instruction course members could be heard to be extolling the benefits of the course with such words as "excellent", "first class", "outstanding", "top-notch", and other favourable comments.

This was a first for Altrincham and as the facilities and arrangements proved ideal, together with a very knowledgeable tutor in David Jackson, it is possible that similar events may be staged in the future.

Val Ellis ( then National Chairman) on her way to the SERIAC Festival bumped into David Jackson on his way to Altrincham in Euston Station.
