Cast and crew of North v South winner: E is for Emma. Following a fallow period for the last 20 years enthusiastic filmmakers at Altrincham Video Society scooped the prestigious John Wright Trophy with their production of E is for Emma, a film portraying the dangers of drugs. Vic Williams, the national organiser, presented the trophy to the producer and director team of Brian & Moira Roberts who received it on behalf of the cast and production crew from Altrincham Video Society. The judging panel, composed of three experienced professional film makers, made comments which included "a moving film that was very well made, an emotive subject matter very well handled with excellent co-operation from the hospital" . "a very good publicity film for the dangers of drug taking that needs to be shown to a wider audience". - news and picture from Peter Richardson. FINAL RESULTS for 1999-2000 The grand final showing all 10 finalists and announcing the overall winner was on 6 February 2000 simultaneously at both venues: north and south. Following a plea in SERIAC News for a larger attendance, around 70 people turned up and just prior to the show starting at 3.00pm the organisers were busy putting out extra rows of seats. The clubs and individuals who always support this event were there in force as usual but it was a real pleasure to welcome no less than 10 members from Nuneaton Moviemakers who were so keen they arrived 3 hours early and were promptly pointed in the direction of the local ale house which just happened to be right opposite the hall where we were staging the event. As well as our friends from Nuneaton, Alf Buhagiar, an ex-member of the Shooters Hill club and now a member of Malta Amateur Cine Circle even put in an appearance. The film sessions ran very smoothly and following the raffle, we decided to show the Circle 8 Film Above and Beyond, surely one of the best and most popular films ever made in the SERIAC region. Then it was time to announce both the audience competition results and the actual competition results. These were as follows:
