| Something about us: |
OVFM was founded in 1958 and has been having a run of success lately. Members
range from novices to experts, who are always ready to pass on skills. Our
members not only produce a wide variety of films on different topics, but
also show technical skill as was demonstrated at the Kent Film Festival where
they won awards for animation, photography, sound and editing.
They gained two certificates of merit and eight awards altogether, including
the Barclays Cup for the best film overall, which was Remember by
Reg Lancaster. This film, about the massacre at Oradour sur Glane in 1944,
continued its success by winning the Regional Shield for best film at the
SERIAC Festival, as well as the documentary trophy. To show the club's diversity
members also won cups for comedy and the best film under 60 seconds.
Membership has been growing steadily and now stands at 67 so, with a film
through to the final of the North v South competition in January, OVFM are
hoping for another great year in 2007. |
