The Green Man
The club meets fortnightly( 7p.m.- 10p.m.) at Stannington Village Hall, Stannington, Northumberland. (It is on the A1, 7 miles North of Newcastle Upon Tyne, next to the Ridley Arms Pub with lots of free, safe parking.)

Colin Graham, club secretary, tells me they welcome beginners and more experienced video makers and offer an opportunity to look at various computer editing systems and discuss problems. They have a varied programme of in-house demonstrations, visiting experts, competitions and social events

They describe themselves as:

‘The Friendliest Camcorder Club in the North East’

Our members use mainly Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premiere and Vegas for editing and we offer help/advice/support on these and all aspects of video making.

The club has been involved in many community projects including, most recently, The Return of the Red Kite to the North East, Local Trafalgar Celebrations and a drama documentary about the Yethom Gypsies.

£500 Support for Young Film Makers

They were recently involved in the process of trying to support young film makers in the region.  To this end they were lucky enough to make a video for Border Terriers 2000 a jamboree for dogs and owners held in Northumberland over a weekend last May.  Five of the club shot over 5 hours of video and it was left up to two of them to finish the edit - which took 12 weeks!  The result was great for the club.  They have sold to date 180 (30 to the States and Canada) tapes and made over £1,000 profit for the Club about half of which they are going to use to help young film makers.
