Taking their lead from the Croatian Minute Movie Festival this Japanese group
has been running a festival for five years. Its broad objective is to honour
the spirit of Hokusai, the painter, who is associated with the town of Obuse.
The top prize is 100,000 yen (around £414), second prize and audience
prize get 10,000 yen (£41). No entry fee. Maximum and
minimum length is 60 seconds. Film submissions must be in either VHS or DV
format (NTSC only) ... and they want two copies. For this year the theme
is: Encounter.
