‘This is a ‘Don’t Miss’ day-long digital event for less than the cost of a lens cleaning cloth’ – imaging guru John Henshall More on RPS ‘D-Day - Rugby’ Cutting edge digital technology never before seen in the UK is set to be unveiled at a unique ‘D-DAY’ autumn conference dubbed ‘the most important convention of its kind in a decade’. The Royal Photographic Society’s Digital Imaging Group has signed up leading imaging expert, John Henshall, to head the Digital Day event in Rugby town centre on Sunday October 29. Key manufacturers including Canon, Hewlett-Packard and Nikon will showcase their latest state of the art products, hot from the Photokina trade show in Cologne. Four hundred and fifty photographers – professionals and serious amateurs – will be able to apply for tickets for the event at Benn Hall, Rugby, for just £8.50 each. RPS DIG members have a special price of £5.00 or £10.00 if attending with a family member. Explained Henshall: “This is an absolute bargain. It’s the ‘Don’t Miss’ digital day of the decade. Many of the products we will have on the day are still top-secret but there is no doubt that they will have a major impact on creative photography. And for less than the cost of a lens cleaning cloth photographers will be able to access vital information about how to increase their creativity and earnings from photography.” He added: “I will demonstrate down-to-earth ‘Fast & Furious’ Photoshop techniques and provide delegates with simple but vital guidelines on how to prepare and size images correctly for submission to online picture libraries.” “Plus there will be hot tips on saving time and money. I will explain what image resolution really means and give crucial information on how to eliminate dust – the biggest time-waster with DSLR cameras, and one of the major reasons for rejection by picture libraries. I will also talk about exposure and compression – and crucial information on how to get rid of dust. This programme will be a step by step guide on how to avoid quality control rejection pitfalls.” Alan Capel, Head of Content at leading online stock library, Alamy, will be at D-DAY Rugby to outline the company’s policy on image submission. Said Henshall: “Images that photographers place with libraries like Alamy can earn money for a lifetime and beyond. I have made thousands of dollars in just two years from stock images – including sales of pictures I took as a teenager in the 1960s”. Clive Haynes, RPS DI Group chairman added: “This is a major coup for us. D-Day Rugby will mark a new watershed in the progression of digital photography for both professionals and amateur enthusiasts.” Download a booking form from www.digit.org.uk More information about the event can be found at the above link.
