FilmFrome Launches
A Portrait of Frome

A Portrait of Frome is new community film project for locals living in Frome.

FILMFROME is giving locals the chance to make their own fly-on-the-wall documentary with the launch of a free community film project in association with Frome’s Media Arts Centre and documentary filmmaker Paul Watson, alias the grandfather of reality TV.

The project is open to anyone of any age living in Frome or the surrounding villages. All you have to do is fill out a simple form giving your name, address, telephone number and a brief outline of your story idea.

The best entries will be invited to a free film workshop in September to learn the rudiments of filmmaking, after which successful candidates will be able to borrow cameras to make their documentary over a nine-month period. Workshops will be held monthly at the media arts centre to offer guidance and technical expertise.

The projects will then be edited into one documentary to give a portrait of Frome in the 21st century, with a planned premiere at the Frome Festival in 2005.

For more information, or a form, contact Nicki Grant of FILMFROME on 01373 303874 or Howard Vause, Community Media Arts Officer, on 01373 469012.
