Danube - River of Europe Festival

Set in Ruse (aka Rousse) Bulgaria - a town on the River Danube the festival is held every second year (last held in 2017). The very broad theme is PANTA REI - EVERYTHING FLOWS - just as the great Danube river flows by the town, marking the border between Bulgaria and Romania.

There is no limit on length, genre or technique. Entries on DVD  or memory stick in MPEG2 or MPEG4. The only important thing is for the movies to be non-commercial, to support the universal values and to be nice. An expert pre-selection panel will choose which of the entries will be screened. Each one chosen secures its maker or his/her representative: hotel, food and access to all events during the festival. The authors will receive information from the organizers within two weeks.

There are no festival taxes, and the events from the cultural programme and the closing cocktail are covered by the organizers.

(From Britain, you fly to Bucharest in Romania - it is a 30Km run by bus/taxi from there over the border bridge to Rousse.) Events include outings, banquets, workshops and discussions. You will eat and drink a lot!

No entry fee or even forms. Write or email your intention to enter include information about: the name, length and type of digital carrier of the film, name and address of the author and if s/he will come to Bulgaria.

Come along if you can. The friendly festival team arrange for students to translate into excellent English.
