The festival is open to all non-commercial short film makers for work up to 30 minutes long. There is a separate category for professionals. From the following categories, the jury will select at least five from which they will choose winners of a Golden Spade.  Entry fee is 20 Euros. DVDs and BluRay discs must have no menus, no other content and a 10 second black leader before the film. If you send an entry on BluRay please also send a copy of the film on DVD.

There is a special section for film makers between the ages of 7 and 18 (based on their age at the end of the calendar year in which the festival takes place.) They should have no active adult participation but adults may advise and appear as actors. There is no entry fee for this category. The special prize is 300 Swiss Francs.

The above are only for amateur film makers. There is a category for film schools, colleges / universities, professional filmmakers and advertising filmmakers in which just one prize will be given.

Discs remain the property of the organiser. Extracts from entries may be made for trailers promoting the festival. Selected films may be shown on local television in Liechtenstein, Vorarlberg, Eastern Switzerland, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Whether selected or not all films will be passed automatically t the "Kluser Short Film Night" in Klaus / Vorarlberg / Austria (which is a public presentation and not a competition.)
