Making Films Is My Passion

In fact, by age seven, he already has everything he could want. For instance, he has a grand piano on which he plays music without having any experience or talent. All the time he has dreams and phantasies and he wants them to come true. His aspirations are pure and therefore you can see him in his nakedness somewhere in the film. Some sequences are symbolic.

Later in this film we meet him as an adult and handicapped person who still plays the piano in an unusual way. His parents had hoped that he would have become an excellent musician. But alas … dreams can turn into nightmares. That's what I wanted to show and to express in this film.

Making films is my passion.

I always have the inner urge to create something. I enjoy watching films in cinemas and on TV in which you can see how images are supported by the right kind of music. The film The Hours is such a fantastic example. The plot of this film is so wonderfully edited. I love music and I always have the desire to add images to it and to create a harmonious entity. Friends who have already seen some of my films understand what I mean.

I also love diversity.

Each time I want to make something completely different. So I think it's difficult to classify my films in one particular genre and that's what I always want. By making films I can express my sense of creativity in image and music. It is a fascinating hobby.

Each time it is a challenge to find the best locations and settings. I always want to show everything in the optimal surroundings. Also the casting is fascinating. The physiognomy of the actors is very important. Looking for the right people who are motivated is an important part of filmmaking. The physiognomy can evoke the feelings that you want to express, even when there is no dialogue in the film.

Let me also tell you that BIAFF is unique. I found taking part to be a very good experience. For instance I was very pleased with the judges' comments. The tone is honest and encouraging at the same time.
