A selection of Open class winners in the 1996 IAC International Film and Video Competition, premiered at movie 96, on Sunday, April 21, 1996, in Milton Keynes.

1. SERENDIPITY LANE
Bull Bayou Productions (USA)
An itinerant mother, Sarah (Sherry Sanford), her son, Lonnie (Wesley Bentley) and daughter, Jo (Lara Hadden) leave their home to claim an inheritance - but things don't quite work out as they hope ... ! Amusingly written, produced and directed by Lisa Cole.

2. IMBAZO (THE AXE)
University of Southern California (USA)
Based on the 'Black-on-Black' violence attacks in South Africa, which the Whites introduced after the 60s' and 70s' Black uprisings, this story shows the effect on a son, Tonono (Rre Kunene), when he learns that his father, Mababa (Orlando Bonner), is involved in such attacks. Written and directed by Mickey Madoda Dube. Transfer from 16mm film.

3. SALES TRIBE GRASHECKI

Joe Grashecki (Chad Herst) does not want to go into the family business selling vacuum cleaners. His father Frank (Bob Ross), tries to force the issue ... and a battle ensues between an irresistible force and an immovable object! Edited by David Santos; written and directed by Sean Hanish.
