2. | PICASSO OF THE PIER Clive Atkins, FRPS (West Midlands) This is a revealing documentary about the famous (or some might say, infamous!) seaside postcard artist Donald McGill and all those buxom ladies, etc, etc! He really had the most extraordinary life and certainly didn't look the part!

3. | BREENDONK Willy Van der Linden (Belgium) The title is the name of an army camp in Belgium which was taken over by the Germans in World War II; the film is the story told by one 90-year-old survivor. Some may find certain scenes upsetting.

4. | LEARNING THE GAME Artworks Pictures [Paul Bagshaw], (Merseyside) Choirboy Carl, 14 (Jon Dickson), tells the story of how he lost his mother and his voice in the same year, as a result of which he felt lonely and ill-at-ease because his father was too busy running the family hotel. His chum Alan (Peter Ravenscroft) is mentally handicapped, so is unable to help, either. The story is what happens to both of them ...
