Forth coming events:
Collingham Spring Festival and AGM 20th March 2010 NERIAC Scarborough Festival and regional competition 2nd - 3rd October 2010 Speaker: Ron Prosser FACI
Ron has been making films since God was a boy! It was in fact in 1955 that he bought his first cine camera, a 9.5mm Dekko Motocamera, a 16th birthday present to himself, spending £16 - two years earnings as a butcher’s delivery boy - much to his parent’s dismay “You should have spent it on something useful” they said.Cutting his teeth on a string of family extravaganza’s he then joined the ‘Crawley Film Unit’ and progressed onto 16mm, and made films in this gauge (amateur and corporate) for a number of years. Family circumstances then brought him to 8mm, Standard and Super, during which time he achieved a number of successes in the ACW’s Ten Best competition. He then turned to video, which by this time was producing better quality pictures and had become easier to edit. With the advent of nonlinear editing he was in his element making “Rose” as his debut into this brave new medium. He then went on to revamp a production that he had made on film many years before – “Tiddlers”. Both of these have done extremely well in International Festivals including a ‘Guernsey Lily’ and a Bronze UNICA award, both of which he is extremely proud. Many other films followed with successes in County, Regional and National competitions. He has always had more scripts than time in the past, but having now given up the “Day Job” he can, hopefully, devote more time to film making.
