The Council meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month except August and December. Aivar Kaulins asks everyone to put pen to paper and let them know how you feel about your hobby, its future and their efforts to promote it. For matters which require specific Council decisions contact Roy Claisse, if possible at least two weeks before the next meeting. Ring ... ring ... have we got your number? Phone numbers change ... people move house ... clubs change secretaries. Please make doubly sure we have your details correct. Write or ring both Roy Claisse 01992 812520 (for North Thames Region) and the IAC office 01372 824350. And yes, we occasionally make mistakes ... so if you told us once and we're still wrong, tell us again!
to top of the page All IAC Regions are self-supporting. One fun way we finance ourselves is the 100 Club. This is run under the conditions of the Lotteries and Amusement Act 1976 and is licensed with the London Borough of Redbridge. A yearly subscription of £12.00 gives you a £1.00 ticket in each of the following twelve month's draws. After the deduction of expenses, 50% of the cash goes in prize money and 50% to the Region's funds. This fund helped us to buy a video projector and a set of Redhead lights for the benefit of all North Thames members. In 2008 c. £450 was donated to the Region and the same amount was issued as prizes. You can join in at any time - contact Jim Tumbridge, Briars, 42 Ridgeway, Hutton Mount, Brentwood, Essex CM13 2LJ. Email.
to top of the page Penny Love, the Membership Officer, explains some of the North Thames Region events: NORTH THAMES DAY - a day event, held on a Sunday in the month of November. It is the day to see as many entries to the North Thames Region Annual Competition as we can fit in and meet some of the makers. The entries are normally judged earlier by movie makers and experts not associated with the Region. At the beginning of the afternoon there is a short interlude for the Annual General Meeting which provides you with the opportunity to make comments and ask questions of the Regions Committee. MANASSEH AND GILLIHAM COMPETITIONS - this event is held on a Sunday in February. The trophies are in memory of the late Leslie Gillham and Sidney Manassah who were founder members and chairmen of the North Thames Region. Movies eligible to enter the Gillham competition are those winning the fictional story section in the first round of the Triangle Competition. Movies eligible to enter the Manassah competition are those winning the open section in the first round of the Triangle Competiton. TRIANGLE TROPHY COMPETITION - a competition open to member clubs of the Region. Triangles, each of three clubs, are formed to compete in the first round. Each club enters three movies, one in each of the sections, Open, Documentary and Fictional Story. (This last replaces the Set Theme section of previous years.) The winning club in each Triangle goes forward into a new Triangle formed with two other winning clubs. The winning clubs of these Triangles then become the clubs to enter the Final Triangle. Throughout the competition, clubs use the same movies unaltered. The winning club hosts the next years Final. TRIANGLE FINAL an afternoon in May/June hosted by the club which won the previous year.
