When movies attain a certain level of success they seem to develop a life of
their own.
JOHN ASTIN was happy to receive prizes for the Potters Bar comedy Timeline which were sent via UK visitors to the UNICA festival. But he did not know which festival was concerned. It seems that the organisers of the prestigious Eulenspiegeleien Festival, which celebrates all forms of cinematic jokes and comedy, had been so impressed by the film at UNICA 2002 that they put the UNICA library copy into the festival without telling him. MICHAEL SLOWE was puzzled recently. He had heard "something from Passau about Pelicans". In fact his movie Pelicans of Guana had won a silver award in the 2003 Euro-Film Festival. Some detective work revealed that he had entered it for the Oslo Festival. It did well there and the organiser, Jon Gisle, asked if it could be forwarded to the festival. The Euro-Film movement seeks to encourage the European ideal and a sense of community between amateur movie makers. It stages several forums which serve as heats for the main festival.
