IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER
Paul Warner (USA)
In 14th-Century France during the Hundred Years' War, an English knight,
Robert Knollys (Trevor Eve), flees the battlefield and falls into an exhausted
sleep, only to be haunted in his dreams by the war. Awakened with a start
by two French children, he accidentally kills the girl (Brooke Varon) and
is forced to kidnap her brother (Michael Garin Turner). A sort of bond grows
between captor and captive, the boy even saving the man's life. Photographed
by Mark Gordon and with an original music score by Peter R. Melnick, whose
feature-film work includes L.A. Story.
Transfer from 16mm film.
(If the synopsis of the film seems familiar, it is because Paul McCudden's
screenplay was also made under the title The Tree of Battles by Nicole
Bettauer at the University of Southern California. See lib. no: FT 64 item
