SHORT MOVIES SELECTION : IAC 1994

This video was compiled especially for the UNICA Festival of 19-28 August, 1994, held in Hradec Kralove. These short films and videos were all made by British movie-makers and entered in the 1994 IAC International Film and Video Competition and first presented at the Movie 94 Festival in April, 1994, at Keele University, Staffordshire.

1. ROONEY THE RHINO
Alan Cleave, FACI (London)
Introducing Rooney, the all-singing, all-dancing rhinoceros, with his most extraordinary music-hall act. Music written and sung by the producer, accompanied at the piano by his son, Martin.

4. SUBURBAN LINE

It seems like just an ordinary train journey until a man (Geoff Rayner) and a woman (Jenny Crease) start a rather public argument. A well-observed piece of story-telling by director Carol Day, with an excellent sound-track.

5. THE SANDCASTLE
Stephen Symes (Lincoln)
Based on a true story about a young boy, David (Kirk Owen), who, spurned by his bickering parents (James and Sarah Daly), discovers, on a deserted, windswept beach, an old poster for the previous season's sandcastle competition. Music by Martin Fottles.
