Omid Nooshin (Surrey)
'Life is a game', says the commentator at the start of this film. And although
the story centres around a group of youngsters, there's a lot more to it
than that! This is a really tense thriller, where all the elements seem to
'gel' perfectly - the acting, camerawork, lighting, editing, sound, and music
(specially composed by David Perkins and Omid Nooshin) - everything, in fact!
The director also co-wrote and co-produced. How gratifying to learn that
the British Council has taken up this film for world-wide distribution!
Widescreen format.
Transfer from 16mm film.

A young Japanese-American masseur, involved with an older woman, remembers
incidents in his childhood. A young Japanese girl calls at his flat looking
for her Japanese boyfriend, Ricky, but the masseur tells her that he is not
there and never has been ... A 'mood' movie, well shot and edited, featuring
the haunting Dreams sung by Roy Orbison.

It is 1946 and Henri (Anthony Coff), a French Jewish refugee in a village
in the north of England, believes he is the only survivor of his family.
He earns money by selling onions (in the French style) in the district, and
slowly makes friends with some local boys, especially Tommy Watkins (Russell
Dunn). Gradually, his history emerges in more detail ... Story and screenplay

1000 COMMITMENTS TO GOD
Pyramid Productions (Hampshire)
A compelling, if somewhat harrowing, account of the obsessive behaviour of
Matthew (Bram Williams), and revealing, via his confidant (Kevin Gower),
his mixed-up feelings and fantasies about God, religion, crucifixion and
guilt, wherein his Mother (Lorraine Hilton) also appears as a Harlot. This
is a dramatised case study from Dr. Judith Rappaport's book The Boy Who Couldn't
Stop Washing, examining the condition known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

A commercial photographer, Julia (Karen Heard), receives the offer of a
job-of-a-lifetime in S‹o Paulo. However, her fiancé Simon (Simon
Atkins) is less then enthusiastic because he wants them to get married. Julia
agrees to think about it for 24 hours. But something happens during that
day ... Believable acting and a good script enhance this well-shot and edited
movie. Directed by Patrick Amery from a story by Lynn Barker.
