OYI HAYYIM, HAYYIMÉ
Liorna Avni (Israel)
Anna, a widow, dedicates her life to her son, Danny, who is living with his
girlfriend. Being a typical 'Jewish mother', Anna cannot 'let go' of her
son. She also 'talks' to her late husband, Hayyimé

THINK ABOUT A GAME
Francisco de Lucas (Spain)
Alma (Marta de Frutos) and some friends are playing a game. Unfortunately
for the others, Anna is a seriously disturbed control freak, trying to manipulate
the game for her own ends. Isaac (Juan Luis Marin), her 'boyfriend', is trying
to keep her under some sort of control - but without much success! (At least,
that is one possible scenario. The storyline is so complex, it is not always
easy to follow!) The photography is excellent and the editing is simply
sensational - the pace is terrific. Unfortunately, the subtitles (not always
on clear backgrounds) go so fast that they are difficult to read in the time.
Widescreen format.

INFINITE
Daniel Sanchez Chamorro (Spain)
A young photographic model (Beatriz Sevilla) wakes up one morning and begins
her usual routine - but things are certainly not routine this morning With
first-class camerawork, editing and sound, this is a sheer movie experience,
in the sense that it couldn't exist in any other medium.

OCEAN ODYSSEY
Terry Elding (Peterborough)
Although this is another under-ocean movie and it deals with Man's destructive
tendencies, don't let this put you off! To the beautiful underwater photography
of one of the uninhabited Maldive Islands, is added a good, well-spoken
narration, which also knows when to stop and let us simply watch!

PERFECT
Christopher Mander (Surrey)
Petal (Tina Martin), a rather large young woman married to Stan (Sam Green),
who is much older and scruffy, wishes to be slim and beautiful and fantasises
about how things might be ... Realistic dialogue, enhanced by excellent
performances (especially by the leading lady) generate a rather touching
mood with nothing 'over the top', which could have happened had it not been
for the firm hand of the writer/director.

VÅRT HÅRLIGA LIV (THIS GLORIOUS LIFE)
Björn Engström (Sweden)
A naive young man (Richard Wiedenkeller) travels to his boring job each day
at the same time, by the same train, where he sees a collection of a wide
range of people all doing the same! He also fantasises about a beautiful
girl (Linda Johnsson). However, this brief outline cannot do justice to the
quality of this movie, which is beautifully observed, wonderfully filmed
and brilliantly edited!
Transfer from 16mm film. (English subtitles.)

THE MAGIC LIGHT OF PUSHKAR MELA
Toshi Sakurai (Belgium)
A study of the camel fair and market in Pushkar in Rajasthan in India, most
beautifully photographed. The director has the great gift of being able to
observe without 'commenting'! The opening narration is well spoken by Howard
Collin. There is also startling use of a very famous piece of music! Widescreen
format.
