DELIVERING THE NEWS
Philip Marshman
A documentary telling about the process of getting newspapers from the
distributors to your front door. A 'local' newsagent talks to camera and
we see the boys and girls going out on their bikes. |

LIFEBOAT
Bruce Dawes
Filmed at the Royal National Lifeboat Collection at Chatham, this movie deals
with the history and restoration of several types of lifeboats from across
the years. There is also an informative and clearly spoken commentary. One
interesting point which arose (from among many) was how the self-righting
boat was developed. |

THE STAFF ROOM AT TIFFIN SCHOOL
Daniel Greenway ( for Alfred Road Productions)
A number of teachers at the school talk about both their careers and their
hobbies; also about how things have changed in their profession since they
first started. Instead of an off-camera voice, the questions are drawn (and
rubbed off) in chalk on a blackboard - a nice touch! |

LAKES & MOUNTAINS
John Davies
An interesting and visually attractive movie about the items of the title,
taken on holiday in the Alps. The commentary is nicely delivered in an informal
style by Melanie Davies. |

PLANETS
Bristol Film & Video Society
A brilliant comedy in which Geoff Salter does a lovely impression of a young
Patrick Moore telling us all about the various planets, their sizes and their
distances from the Earth. Nicely photographed and edited, and with good computer
effects. Directed by Graham Eggar. |

BROOK MEADOW
Michael Camps
A most attractive-looking movie showing the various times of the year at
the location of the title - in Warwickshire. Also, a lot of the appeal is
provided by the good, informative commentary, spoken in a most relaxed style
as though speaking off the cuff (although it probably wasn't) by Rachel
Christopher, but it's exactly what is required. |

GLORIOUS DEVON
Andrew Trevett
Another attractive look at a local area - this time the county of the title.
Included, among others, are Newton Abbot, Torquay and Brixham, which a lot
of people have enjoyed on their Summer holidays over the years.
