TOP AWARDS SELECTION : 2 (IAC 1996)

This selection of International Award-winning entries from the 1996 IAC International Film and Video Competition includes the Best Photography/Best Use of Sound winner and the Best Overseas Entry, premiered at movie 96, on Sunday, April 21, 1996, in Milton Keynes, plus a Youth entry screened the previous day in a mini-cinema.

1.	THE MESSAGE Borehamwood Camcorder and Cine Club (Herts) Three middle-aged friends meet in a pub and one starts reminiscing about a World War II adventure, involving time travel ... 2.	THEY WERE NUMBERS Raoul van Tyghem (Belgium) A tribute to some of the victims of World War I, using Imperial War Museum archive film intercut with modern colour footage from similar locations. IAC International Award, Best Overseas Award 1996	Visual b&w/col 4.mins
3.	BLIND FAITH Apone Productions (Somerset) This tense and atmospheric psychological thriller is set in a college where Jonathan Cartwright (Charles Crow) and his fellow-student Emma Harper (Lucy Brookshaw) appear to be 'made for each other'. Thanks to another student, psychotic David Mason (creepily played by Aelred Down), combined with the final breakdown of Emma's parents' marriage, things start to unravel between Jonathan and Emma ...
