UNICA : WARSAW 1997
In August 1997 at its Warsaw conference, UNICA (the International Union of
Non-Professional Cinematographers) unanimously voted the IAC, representing
the UK (Great Britain and Northern Ireland), into membership. After 34 years
of absence, the UK returned in style, with medals for two of its entries.
This compilation is the tape prepared especially for the contest and contains
black gaps of 4 minutes between each movie.

GLAMOUR MAN
Philip Beasley (Essex)
John (Steve Kutz), recently redundant, and his wife Maureen (Sarah Iliffe),
have got into a boring rut. As he says: 'There's got to be more [in life]
than this'. One day, he sees a camcorder 'bargain' in a local shop and decides
to go into 'private video-making' - with surprising results ... Nicely written,
edited and produced by the Director.

This Russian roulette 'duel' between two men is brilliantly lit, shot and
edited to build to an extremely tense climax - to which is added a lovely
'sting in the tail'! Written and directed by Ken Baylis.

Oscar Riesel (North London)
A fascinating study of the work and the world of an artist. She talks about
her approach, as does her husband Richard Parker Crook, also an artist, and
we see many examples of her work, including a commission and its delivery.
There are also reactions from the public at a showing at the Portal Gallery,
