THE BINOCULARS

Sam (Joshua Bates), an 11-year-old whose father has long gone, is out in
the country one day, and meets Winston (Berny Poulton), who is 'living rough'.
They discover a shared interest in bird-watching ... A pleasant mood is generated
by an intelligent script and good performances.

This is a humorous 'take' on the Greek myth of the King of Corinth who was
punished in Hades by forever having to roll a block of marble uphill, only
for it to roll down again, combined with the famous 'Odessa Steps' sequence
from the classic Battleship Potemkin.

Ron Prosser (West Sussex) Sophie (Juliet McCrimmon) visits her grandmother,
Rose (Pat Smith), now living in an old people's home in the country, but
apparently unable to communicate. Sophie is soon to be married, so hopes
that her grandmother might be able to be there. Sophie's mother has given
her a memento from Rose's past ... This is a nicely written, gentle, somewhat
moving, story, with good performances by 'Sophie' and 'Rose'.
