Links in WeeblyThe Navigation article discusses the use of links to help visitors move around your own website and to see other websites. Here is how Weebly handles links.

Weebly can make any text
on a page a link to another page - on your own site or
elsewhere. Select the text and on the text tool bar click the
chain button. That opens the link options.
That is covered in detail in Build a Club Website: part 5 . |

This allows you to use images of buttons, arrows and so on as links. It is good practice always to offer text links as well - perhaps at the foot of the page - for people who turn off images in their browser. Links from images can be specially useful when presenting videos - see here. |

Link to page topWeebly links to any web page - on your own site or elsewhere - take visitors only to the top of the page. They do not link to "anchors" (words or images within a page). You can make a virtue of this by putting the words "to the top" on the last line of your page, selecting those words, making a link and pointing that link to the page you are on. When visitors click it the page re-appears but they are at the top of it. AnchorsAnchors and links-to-anchors can be created in Weebly by other means - see here. |
Link to other websitesWe suggest you always tick the "Open link in new window" option when going to another website. That means visitors will have two windows open in their browser: the new page and your website page. That makes it easy for them to return when they have looked at the outside page. Some outside websites make it clear that they prefer you to link to their home page every time. (Perhaps they make frequent changes to where other pages are stored.) Generally readers prefer to be taken directly to the page of an outside website which interests them and follows the topic they have been reading about. |

There are nine pages in this series of detailed Weebly tips: They support general articles on web design for film-making and AV club websites which begin here. [Weebly frequently update and improve their system. These pages are based on tests in March 2015.] |
