BIAFF 1997 Awards Selection 3

A third selection of award-winners in the 1997 IAC International Film and Video Competition, premiered at movie 97, held April 10-13, 1997, in Great Malvern, Worcestershire.

1. APOCALYPSE
Michael Goodden (Dorset)
The maker of Mother Earth takes a different look at Man and planet Earth. Set to Holst's 'Jupiter' from The Planets, this contrasts the beauties of Nature with Man's destructive tendencies. Widescreen format.

2. PAST IMPERFECT, FUTURE PERFECT?
Trick Productions (Devon)
A young man (Ben Portus) holidaying in the West Country, visits an old house which used to be in his hosts' family. There he meets Tomasina (Tamsin Harvey) and they begin to grow fond of one another ... Original score by Tim Woodward; written and directed by Tristan Harvey for Torquay Boys' Grammar School.

Peter Dunphy (N. Ireland)
A late-teenage son (Peter Dunphy) and his father (Patrick McParland) live together, and both, in turn, experience strange happenings. Are they hallucinating or going mad - or is there some other explanation? A complex, intriguing movie which is well shot, lit and edited; in fact, this is a piece of 'pure cinema' in the sense that it could not exist in any other medium.
