| 5. | ZIZZY, THE BALLS AND THE BUTTERFLY Ben Northover (Suffolk) A stylish piece of computer animation by a 14-year-old from Halesworth Middle School, in which Zizzy, as balls bounce by, changes his painting of a frog into that of a butterfly. | 6. | BERTIE St. Cuthbert Films (Newcastle-on-Tyne) Young Bertie (Mark Friend) is near the end of his stay with the Radcliffe family on a large country estate in the north of England. Bertie meets pretty little Elizabeth (Clare Hodgkinson) who is staying nearby. Also, he tries to persuade Thomas Radcliffe (Jonathan Swales), a lad of his own age, to take him on an adventurous trip to High Force Falls. This would mean an overnight stay on the moor, and Thomas knows that it would also mean a thrashing from his father (Ron Edwardson) when they got back. . . An original story and screenplay by David Peffer using real-life characters, confirmed by the end-title montage of still pictures. Production led by Andrew Lane; advisor: Frank Hodges. | 7. | NOT EVEN A SNOWDROP Richard Lewendon (Cirencester) A puppetoon produced by Pandora Pollen and evocatively photographed by Paul Cascarino. Suzanna and Jonathan leave their grandpa and climb the mountain to ski. Despite being April, it is still very, very cold and there is no sign of Spring yet. Near the mountain-top they discover why. Spring has been sealed up in a cave by the wicked Winter. Can the courage of the children, aided by the magic of an old saint from a far-off land, save the world from the poisonous clouds that obscure the life-giving sunshine?
