DEEP IN THE WOODS
Simon J. Frith (Essex)
Made when he was 23 years of age, this was only Simon's second film.
It was nearly two years in the making, the bulk of the work being done himself
as a sort of one-man production company which he has called Broadsword Films:
scripting, storyboarding, casting, making the props and costumes, rehearsing
the actors (about 20 of them), shooting (twice, due to a laboratory fault),
editing, composing and playing the music, and sound-tracking the final version.
The film itself is a fairy story. A beautiful princess (Kerry Parfett) is
walking through the peaceful, green woods when she is set upon by a gang
of horrible goblins. Rescue in the shape of a brave knight (Guy Pickard)
seems readily to hand. . . Photographed in Belfairs Woods, Leigh-on-Sea,
Essex. Transfer from 16mm film. |
