1. THE OLYMPIC MUSEUM
Richard Lewendon (Glos)
This is a fascinating documentary about the modern Olympic movement since 1896 and its creator, Pierre de Coubertin, and the museum which has been built in Lausanne to house its archives. There is also footage of as much material as has been traced, both on film and on video, all of which is available to students, researchers, etc. The excellent commentary is by Alan Simpson.

2. GREENHOUSE

Some time in the future, in a greenhouse travelling through space, is a little creature who becomes subject to the 'greenhouse effect'. (The canister labelled 'O3' is, of course, ozone.)

3. FOXTROT

A study of the crew and conditions aboard 'one of the safe Russian submarines', where a series of small accidents, short circuits, problems with the hydraulics' can arise. ('Some of the submarine exterior images are taken from films like Crimson Tide and The Abyss'.) Written, produced and directed by Kristel Waterloos and Douglas Boswell.

4. A FISHERMAN'S TALE
Brian Hazelden (UK)
The maker happened to be on the sea-front at Hastings when a storm blew up, and managed to record the rescue of a fishing boat. He later went back and filmed interviews with some of the people involved.

6. NARDO
Douglas Boswell (Belgium)
A hamster (Nardo) is rescued from a fire by one of the firemen who then gives it (in a wooden cage) to a young boy at the fire-station. It's not long before the hamster gets out ... Highly imaginative camera angles combined with excellent editing enhance this movie enormously. Widescreen format.
