NORTH v SOUTH FINALISTS 1998
The North v South Competition Final is between five entries from the north of Britain and five from the south. The competition was originally founded by the late John Wright, FACI. The Set Theme for 1998 was 'Take Two'.

6. | THE MONKEY'S PAW Medway Camcorder Club (Kent) This classic one-act play by W.W. Jacobs, set in the late 1800s, has been well transferred to the screen, with an excellent set making a positive contribution, together with the lighting, to the atmosphere. Mr White (Alan Whippy) and his wife (Gwen Whippy) are in their cottage one evening with their son, Herbert (Paul Tomkies) and two friends, Sgt Major Morris (Frank Linton) and Mr Sampson (Terry Walsh). The Sgt Major is persuaded to tell the story of a monkey's paw which has come into his possession and how this happened ... Directed by Jeff Friend. |

After an abortive visit to the bank manager (instigated by Jessie!), on the way home Phillip manages to get into Tewkesbury Abbey - which needs several million pounds for restoration - where the ghost of a long-dead monk (Geoff Guy) appears to him ... |
