Introduction of a new quality award
for video makers and audio-visual producers

In 2012 the IAC introduced a new level of quality award for creative work in both video and A-V disciplines.
The new Associate level is halfway way between the Licentiate level and the Master Movie Making Fellowship.
Because of the different competitions and awards for Video and A-V it is essential to read the actual requirements below and download the appropriate application form for full details.

The following is a summary of requirements for all three quality Awards (LACI, AACI and FACI(M)) plus an explanation of how fellowships (FACI) and UNICA medals are awarded.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS for award applications

The IAC acknowledges outstanding attainments in movie making by granting three levels of honours. The successful claimant demonstrates their consistent qualities by gathering points based on success in the IAC International Film and Video Competition (aka BIAFF Competition.)

These notes clarify the necessary points according to the new Award names (Awards using the pre-2008 names can be still be included to build up the accumulated tally of points.)
Successful candidates may use the appropriate letters after their name and receive a Certificate of Attainment. The awards of Licentiates, Associate, and Master Movie Making Fellowship only remain valid while the holder is a full member of the IAC. (Youth and Junior membership counts as full membership.) Only the principal member of a family membership group is classified as a full member.  Associate members, affiliated clubs or groups are not eligible.
The letters LACI, AACI, and FACI(M) may only be used in an amateur context and not for commercial concerns.
The principal role of the IAC is that of a service organisation for amateur movie and audio visual makers. It is not a qualifying body. Therefore, the use of the above post-nominal letters on business stationery or other media, whether the undertaking is concerned with the delivery of film, video or audio visual services or not, is not permitted.

The successful claimant demonstrates their consistent qualities by gathering points based on success in various A-V Competitions, but with an emphasis on success in the IAC Geoffrey Round / Peter Coles Competition.
